GUEST HOUSE
WELCOME TO THE GUEST HOUSE
Bookings: vanhakrappala@gmail.com
Prices always include sauna, breakfast, bed linens, and a towel.
We host guests who are looking for peace and rest. The setting is also ideal for quiet work and deep focus. Both the house and the garden offer several spots where you can retreat and enjoy your own space. We also have a wide selection of books available to read.
Only one group stays at the guesthouse at a time, though we can accommodate a few individual guests simultaneously.
Families with children are warmly welcome as well. During their stay, the house is reserved for their world. The attic has toys, books, and a bunk bed, while the garden features a playhouse, and the nearby river is perfect for a swim.
The house’s original room layout has been preserved. The rooms are decorated with items collected over several generations, blending a sense of history with modern touches.
Check-in starting at 3 pm.
Check-out by 12 pm.

The large space (200m²) can be divided by chimneys, curtains and movable partitions, offering privacy and creating cozy nooks.

The door of the Telephone Chamber offers a view straight through the house: with a single glance, you can see through a row of five rooms.
The room’s name dates back to the mid-20th century, when the house acquired its first landline telephone. It was a source of great pride at the time, so it was placed prominently at the center of the writing desk, where it could be seen all the way from the other end of the house.
Since then, the room has been known as the Telephone Chamber.
The window looks out onto the beautiful garden.
The Telephone Chamber has a single bed.
Green Chamber
160€ / room / night
Includes sauna, breakfast, bed linens and a towel.
During retreats dinner is also included in the price.
The room has always featured green wallpaper.
Its window opens onto a lovely forest view, and an old fireplace adds warmth and cozyness to the space.
The room also hides a small mystery. One of the walls contains a discreet door leading to a tiny secret room. In the past, objects were placed in front of the door to conceal it. According to legend, during the time the house belonged to the Swedish Crown, confidential documents were stored in this hidden room.
The Green Chamber has a double bed and accommodates 1 – 2 guests. The room rate is the same whether occupied by one or two persons.
Stairway Room
90€ / person / night
Includes sauna, breakfast, bed linens and a towel.
During retreats dinner is also included in the price.
The Stairway Room will be completed in spring 2026 by installing floorboards above the staircase.
This staircase has traditionally been reserved for guests of honor, giving the room a refined and slightly ceremonial feel.
The windows offer a peaceful view of the garden.
The Stairway Room has a single bed.
Important Information
The main house has no warm water. Washing is done in the traditional Finnish way: mixing hot water heated in a cauldron with cold water using a ladle in the sauna. This simple ritual makes the moment peaceful and timeless, just as it has been for centuries.
There is one shared bathroom in the main house, and an outhouse.
The Krappala family, including our dog, lives in the house and is available around the clock should you need anything during your stay.
You can store food in the house’s vaulted cellar, which is kept at approximately refrigerator temperature.
During retreats, the kitchen is reserved for staff use only.
